New ArtSpace exhibit opens Sunday, Nov 8

"The Bowl, A Celebration" opens at the Tunbridge Public Library in Tunbridge, Vt., on Sunday, November 8, 2015, with an Empty Bowl Supper from 2-4 p.m. Bowls decorated by Tunbridge Central School fourth- and fifth-graders may be purchased during the event. Soup and light fare will be available with proceeds benefiting the local food shelf.

Running from November 8 until December 31, 2015, "The Bowl, A Celebration" exhibits a collection of special and treasured bowls from the Tunbridge community and beyond. Each bowl is accompanied by a story about how it is meaningful to its owner, whether it is a intricate or simple piece.

The show also marks the establishment of a bowl lending library at the Tunbridge Public Library. Area artists -- including Romulus Craft, Robin Mix, Kathy Myers and Chris Vernon -- have agreed to donate two bowls apiece. The bowls can be checked out, just like a book.

The show is organized by Stephanie Loeffler, of Chelsea, Vt. Loeffler trained as a potter and recently has exhibited her fiber work. An art teacher to all of the students at Tunbridge Central School, Loeffler has long thought of the bowl as beautiful for its ability to represent different cultures and bring meaning to our everyday lives.

The library is located on 289 Route 110 in the center of Tunbridge village, across from the Post Office, about five miles north of Route 14. The library’s hours are Monday and Wednesday, 3-8 p.m., Thursday and Friday, 3-6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call librarian Jean Wolfe at 802-889-9404 for more information.
